How to Get Java on My DSi

The sleek Nintendo DSi system comes with many interactive features to enhance your gaming experience. You can view photos, play sound files and download new content from Nintendo. Of course, you can access the entire Nintendo DS game library. The only problem with the Nintendo DSi is that it does not come with Java installed, which means you can̵7;t play any Java-based games. Although installing Java sounds like a difficult task, you just need a computer and a Nintendo-compatible SD card.

Open a Web browser on your computer and navigate to the Pstros NDS website. Click on the "Download the latest NDS binary" link to download the Java binary archive.

Save the archive to your desktop. Connect the SD card reader to your computer and plug in the SD card. Windows will recognize the card as an external storage device and create a drive for it. Right-click on the drive and select the "Format" option to erase the SD card. Click "Quick Format" and then click on the "Format" button to start the process.

    • 3

Right-click on the archive containing the Java binary and select the "Extract All" option from the menu that opens. Select the SD card drive and click the "Extract" button to extract the contents of the archive to the SD card. Unplug the SD card from the SD card reader.

Plug the SD card in the card slot on your Nintendo DSi. Turn on the console and go to "System Settings." Select the "SD or SDHC Card Management" option to view the contents of your SD card.

Use the controller's left and right pads to access the left and right soft keys. The game cursor keys can be accessed by using the D-pad. Use the "B" button to fire.
