How to Run a Program From an SD Card in a DSi

Your Nintendo DSi features an SD card slot that allows you to listen to music, view photos and save game data. If you save an application on the SD card, though, you cannot normally run it on the DSi. To run programs on the DSi, you need to use a special adapter, such as CycloDS iEvolution or R4i 3DS, and a microSD card. With a DSi adapter, any programs you store on the microSD card, such as "homebrew" games or e-book readers, work on the Nintendo DSi.

Click "Start" and "OK" and wait for the format to finish. This may take a few minutes.

Download the latest software for your DSi card. DSi card manufacturers, such as R4 and Acekard, regularly release updated software for their products. Once you download the software, double-click it to open the file. Click "Extract" and select the microSD card as the extraction location.
