How to Run an Emulator From an SD Card for DSI

The Nintendo DSi allows you to take games with you wherever you go -- both Nintendo DS games and any games you have an emulator and ROM file for. Emulators are programs that mimic video game consoles -- for instance, a Super Nintendo emulator mimics the Super Nintendo console. It is legal to have a ROM file, provided that you also own a copy of the original game. You're not legally allowed to use a ROM if you don't own the game.
