Unlocking
"Nintendogs Lab & Friends" comes with one neighborhood and home for you to use. To get additional areas, like the Seaside, you must unlock them. Unlocking the seaside area in "Nintendogs Lab & Friends" requires 12,000 trainer points according to Game FAQS. You can earn trainer points by completing different tasks with your dog. For example, bathing and brushing your dog earns trainer points. You can also earn points by teaching your dog tricks and basic commands.
Wait Times
After unlocking the Seaside area, you must buy and build a house. To earn enough money to buy the house, you must take your dog to different competitions. Your dog will earn money for every competition he wins. After you purchase the house, it will take several days to build. During that time, you will see a warning message showing that the area is under remodeling. During the remodeling period, you cannot enter the Seaside area.
Using the Area
The Seaside area comes with an outdoor beach for your character and your dog to use. When you enter the area, your character can sit on the beach chair while playing with the dog. Your dog can use the area to get groomed or take naps. Use the game's home screen to enter and leave the Seaside area. For example, by pressing the "Go Out" icon you can leave your seaside house and take your dog for a walk on the beach.
Other Considerations
The Seaside area has a dock, boat and ocean. These areas are purely for show. Your dog cannot use the boat or the water during game play. Once you have built your seaside area you can improve your house by purchasing different upgrades. For example, you can build a desk for your Seaside house. Each upgrade costs a different amount of money and takes time to build.
