Prerequisite to Get to Kanto
Before you can depart for Kanto, you must defeat the Elite Four and the Pokemon champion. You can challenge these trainers, located on Victory Road, once you have earned the eight gym badges by defeating the gym leaders found throughout Johto. You must fight each member of the Elite Four, as well as the Pokemon champion, in successive battles. Bring numerous healing items, such as Super Potions and Revives. When you have defeated all five trainers, the credits roll. When the credits are finished, you awaken in your house in New Bark Town.
Boarding the S.S. Aqua
When you awaken, your mother tells you that Professor Elm is in his laboratory and wishes to speak to you. Go to the house next door and speak to Professor Elm to receive the S.S. Aqua Ticket, a key item that allows you to travel from Johto to Kanto. Travel to Olivine City and walk to the southern part of the city to reach the docks. After a brief conversation with Professor Oak, who gives you an upgraded Pokedex, continue to head south, speaking to the sailors who are in your way. The sailors move, allowing you to board the S.S. Aqua, a large luxury passenger ship.
Aboard the S.S. Aqua
Once you have boarded the S.S. Aqua, a grandfather approaches you and tells you about his missing granddaughter. The S.S. Aqua will not dock in Kanto until the missing child has been found. Explore the boat, defeating all Pokemon trainers you come across, until you reach the Captain's Quarters, which are beyond the basement. When you find the young girl, she attempts to hide in a different location, in the lower left corner of the basement. After you find her the second time, she rejoins her grandfather. After you speak to the grandfather, the S.S. Aqua docks in Vermillion City, in Kanto.
What to do in Kanto
Kanto offers many new challenges. Eight gym leaders in Kanto, one in each city, can be defeated in any order. You must fight new battles against rivals such as Red, and visit old friends such as Steven in Vermillion City. There are new Pokemon to catch in the wild, and new legendary Pokemon to catch, such as Mewtwo, Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres. In Fuchsia City, you are able to transfer Pokemon from previous games such as "Pokemon Emerald," "Ruby" and "Sapphire" to your "SoulSilver" cartridge.
