Where to Find the Explorer Kit

• To enter the Underground, you must have an Explorer Kit. This item allows you to tunnel underground and access the Underground at any time. To receive your free Explorer Kit, you must travel to Eterna City, located north of Route 206 and west of Mt. Coronet. Enter the house to the right of the Pokemon Center and speak to the old man within. After speaking to the old man, he rewards you with the Explorer Kit, which is placed in the "Key Items" section of your bag. As a Key Item, the Explorer Kit can be used an infinite amount of times.

How to Get to the Underground

• You can access the Underground, through your Explorer Kit, any time you are on solid ground. You cannot access the Underground while you are underwater or surfing on a body of water. When on solid ground, open your bag and select the "Key Items" section. Use the Explorer Kit to get to the Underground. You do not need to connect to a Wi-Fi connection to explore the Underground; you can fully explore it yourself. The location of where you appear Underground is dependent on the location you selected as an entrance point.

How to Find Treasure

• Use your stylus on the bottom screen of the DS to tap the walls of the Underground. When the screen is tapped, a circle radiates outward, looking for spots where treasure can be found. When treasure is found, the portion of the wall that holds the treasure glows. Stand in front of the treasure and press "A" to begin digging. When digging, you can select either the hammer to unearth a large section of the wall, or the pickaxe to unearth a tiny section of the wall. Tap the location of the wall you wish to dig to uncover treasure. However, you only have a limited number of strikes, located at the top of the screen, until the wall collapses. Any treasure found is added to your bag.

Types of Treasure That can be Found

• There are a variety of treasures that can be found in the Underground. The most sought-after treasure is fossils. When found, a fossil can be given to the museum in Oreburgh City in exchange for a rare Pokemon. Evolution stones can be found in the Underground, necessary for certain types of Pokemon to evolve. Items such as Revives and Heart Scales can also be found. Lastly, spheres can be found in the wall, which be traded to Hikers found in the Underground for a variety of items for you and your Pokemon.
