Can I Sync My DSi Pictures to My Computer?

The Nintendo DSi is a portable gaming device that also allows you to take and display photos. Photos are saved to the DSi's internal memory or external SD memory card. You can copy pictures from the internal memory to the SD card and then synchronize them to your computer.
  1. Compatible SD Card

    • The Nintendo DSi supports standard, micro, mini and high-capacity secure digital cards up to 32GB. First generation and older SD cards may not meet the speed requirements to work properly with the Nintendo DSi or may perform slowly when transferring pictures.

    Locked SD Card

    • Some SD cards have a lock switch on the side of the card. If the lock switch is in the locked position, the Nintendo DSi will display a "The SD Card is Locked" error message when attempting to copy pictures from the internal memory to the SD card. Turn the Nintendo DSi off and slide the switch on the SD card to the unlocked position to complete the transfer.

    USB Card Reader

    • If your computer doesn't have a built-in SD card reader, you can use a USB SD card reader to transfer the Nintendo DSi photos from the SD card to the computer. Verify that the USB SD card reader or your built-in SD card reader is compatible with the type of SD card you transferred to photos to. Although most USB card readers are all-in-one devices, some may not support the micro, mini or SDHC formats.

    Syncing Photos

    • Insert the DSi's SD card into the card reader on your computer. Windows prompts you to open the files in a folder. The folder displays all the files, photo or otherwise, on the SD card. You can drag and drop pictures into the directory of your choice, such as the Desktop or Documents folders. Once you've transferred the photos to your PC, they can't be modified in any way if you plan to put them back on the Nintendo DSi. Once you've edited or renamed photos taken on the Nintendo DSi, they won't display when trying to view them on the device. To prevent this from being a problem, make copies of the files after transferring them to your computer.
