How to Get a Gold Medal in Hard Scuba Diving in My Sims for the DS

In the game "My Sims" for Nintendo DS, scuba diving is a mini-game where you need to take photos of rare aquatic life, choose the three best photos and submit them for assessment. Depending on how well each photo rates and the number of points each photo earns, you'll be awarded a bronze, silver or gold medal. To unlock the game, you must take the ferry service frequently and talk with Nicki. After a while, she'll discover an abandoned boat at sea, which she takes back to land to use for a scuba-diving business.

Instructions

    • 1

Swim in the ocean and look for fish and other aquatic animals to photograph. To hold the camera, hold down the "L" button on your DS and press the "R" button to snap a picture. Take photos sparingly, as you're allowed to take only nine pictures per lesson.

    • 2

Use the arrow keys to change directions underwater in search of large, unique fish. Whenever there is a large or rare fish nearby, take a photo with your camera. One of the first creatures you'll come across in the hard level is a dolphin, which you should capture a photo of. Later on, you'll come across a manta ray and a turtle, both of which will be heading toward the left side of your screen. Both will earn you a high level of points -- particularly the turtle, which earns some of the highest points in the game.

    • 3

Concentrate on taking photos of fish that are as close to you as possible. Additionally, you want to focus on capturing photos of large fish, dolphins and sharks. These types of photos will earn you the most points during the photo assessment and will give you a better chance of earning a gold medal during the hard round of the game.

    • 4

Look closely for a dot on the screen that appears to change color. This dot indicates that another group of fish is coming toward you, so make sure you have your camera ready to capture photos.

    • 5

Select three of your photos for assessment after your scuba-diving lesson is over -- ideally, the dolphin, manta ray and turtle. When selecting photos, keep in mind that high-quality photos of dolphins, sharks and other large sea creatures will earn you significantly more points than close-up images of fish. Likewise, a photo of a single large shark will earn you more points than a photo of a school of fish.
