How to Get a Picture in PictoChat on Your DSi

The Nintendo DSi, released in 2009, is the third generation of Nintendo's DS handheld line. It's small, contains two cameras and has the capacity to store music and pictures. One of the features that remained the same as the old DS handhelds is an integrated game called "PictoChat." It's a chat room where DS owners can talk to each other if they're in close proximity. Every user gets a virtual keyboard to type out messages, a list of languages and fonts to choose from, and the ability to get pictures in the chat room.

  Turn on your Nintendo DSi.

  Wait for the DSi menu screen to appear. Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the touchscreen to locate the "PictoChat" icon, which looks like a smiley face.

  Click the icon to start the game and enter the chat room. Use your stylus to press the pencil icon located in the upper-left of the screen.

  Press down on the touchscreen in the white area above the keyboard. Draw whatever kind of picture you like.

  Press the "Send" icon in the lower-right corner of the touchscreen, to get your picture in the chat room.
