How to Get Gritty Ditty in Dragon Quest IX

Many characters' skills in "Dragon Quest IX" unlock by spending Skill Points on them. After unlocking, these skills stay with a character through class changes, allowing you to build your characters' skills to your liking. Some special skills, however, require the use of particular items earned through quests. The Gritty Ditty skill, which costs 16 MP and raises your entire party's attack parameter, requires the Minstrel's Manual, which is the reward for finishing quest 102.

Instructions

  Level up a minstrel character to at least level 15. You can either use an existing minstrel in your party or switch a character to the class temporarily.

  Visit Alltrades Abbey and talk to the ghost in the bar to receive quest 101, "Eggstreme Sport."

  Use the Egg On ability to reach super tension on one of your characters five times to complete the quest; then return to the ghost to turn in the quest.

  Level your minstrel up to level 40 and then head back to the ghost to start quest 102, "Prat's the way to do it!"

  Use the Pratfall skill in battle until it randomly hits with a critical strike twice. After two critical Pratfalls, talk to the ghost again.

  Travel to Stornway Castle and speak to the prisoner in the jail. This will complete quest 102 and reward you with the Minstrel's Manual.

  Place the Minstrel's Manual in any character's inventory to give that character the Gritty Ditty ability. Characters of any class can use the ability.
