How to Get Your Chickens to Win Contests in Harvest Moon

Festivals are held throughout the year in ̶0;Harvest Moon DS.̶1; The basic idea of winning the chicken contest is similar to a sumo match. Two chickens are placed into a ring and the first one to leave it loses. The chickens do not actually fight one another but move around based on whether they are encouraged or frightened by you during the contest. Your chicken̵7;s happiness attribute plays a huge role in how often she randomly runs out of the ring. Your chicken should have at least nine hearts for her happiness to win.

Instructions

- 1
  Pet your chicken once each day with the touch glove. The chicken̵7;s happiness grows a little bit each day you do this. Picking up the chicken with the touch glove does not change happiness, only petting her.

  Put your chicken outside during sunny weather. You move the chicken by picking her up using the touch glove. The chicken̵7;s happiness increases when she is outside in sunny weather. She also does not need to be fed when she is outside.

  Put your chicken in the bird house during rainy weather. Her happiness decreases when she is outside during the rain. Putting her inside does not increase her happiness, but it prevents a decrease from occurring.

  Put chicken feed inside the bird house every day if she is inside.

  Choose the chicken with the highest amount of happiness, represented by the number of hearts she has, at the beginning of the chicken contest.

  Press the ̶0;X̶1; button during the contest when your chicken starts to cluck. Pressing this button causes your character to encourage your chicken and frighten the opponent. Both actions cause the chicken to move forward one step. Do not press the button if your chicken is standing on the edge of the ring. Keep repeating until the opponent runs out of the ring.
