How Can I Get All the Pokemon Without a GameShark?

In the "Pokemon" franchise, collecting all of the Pokemon is one of the many objectives players must accomplish to complete their game 100 percent. However, as each game is specifically introduced with a limited number of Pokemon species to capture, it's next to impossible to collect every Pokemon using a single game and no help. In order to catch every Pokemon available as of the time of publication without a cheat device like Gameshark, you'll need a copy of either "Pokemon Black Version" or "Pokemon White Version" -- the latest entries in the franchise. You'll also need a reliable friend or two to help you out.

Instructions

    • 1

Start up your copy of Pokemon Black or White Version and play through until you beat the leader of the Striation City Gym, which will unlock player-to-player trading and the Global Terminal.

    • 2

Make an Infrared, or IR, connection with a friend who has all the Pokemon that will be unavailable in your version of Pokemon, including any legendary or event Pokemon. If you don't have a single friend with every Pokemon but several with many different types, enlist as many as you can to help.

    • 3

Trade some easily captured "fodder" Pokemon like Patrat, Lillipup and Pidove to obtain some of the other Pokemon you'll need. Alternatively if your friend isn't inclined to part with their Pokemon, use a "touch-pass" trade where you trade his Pokemon back to them immediately after they have traded them to you. This will still give you a Pokedex entry for the Pokemon, a vital component for collecting them for yourself. Repeat as necessary with as many friends as is required to fill your Pokedex.

    • 4

Go to the nearest Pokemon Center after trading and/or touch-pass trading with your friend.

    • 5

Go to the second floor in the Pokemon Center, and examine the globe on the far right.

    • 6

Select your location on the map to identify where you are on the Geonet. This will enable you to use the Global Terminal for GTS and GTS Negotiations.

    • 7

Speak to the woman at the desk to the left of the globe, and select "Global Trade" from the list.

    • 8

Select either GTS or GTS Negotiations. GTS allows you to post up Pokemon you want to trade and ask for specific Pokemon in return, assuming you have that Pokemon's Pokedex entry. You can also search for Pokemon being offered and see if you have what the offering player is asking for. GTS Negotiations puts you in direct contact with another player, where you can both offer Pokemon to trade without the need for Pokedex entries.

    • 9

Save the game when prompted and connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to continue.

    • 10

Trade readily available Pokemon like Patrat, Lillipup and Pidove to get some Pokemon you don't have. Odds are you won't be able to get legendary Pokemon with these, but by trading up you can eventually score some Pokemon that will be far more appealing and potentially get you some legendaries.
