Games: How Do You Transfer Pokemon From the GBA to the DS?

"Pokemon" is a series of games that began on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance and progressed to the Nintendo DS. One of the many features of the newer "Pokemon" games is the ability to transfer Pokemon from previous games. If you have a favorite Pokemon character from an old GBA version, you can easily transfer him to your new Nintendo DS. In order to transfer your Pokemon, however, you must first beat the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Beat the game, including the Elite 4. After you defeat the Elite 4, Professor Oak will give you the National Dex. The National Dex allows you to capture and catalog Pokemon from other versions of the game.

    • 2

Travel to Pal Park for the Generation IV games or the PokeTransfer Center for the Generation V games.

    • 3

Insert the GBA game cartridge into the slot located on the bottom of the Nintendo DS.

    • 4

Speak to the person behind the counter at either center. Select "Transfer Pokemon" from the menu.

    • 5

Select up to six Pokemon to transfer from the GBA cartridge. Confirm your selections.

    • 6

(Pal Park only) Exit the building and enter the capturing area of Pal Park. Walk up to a Pokemon to engage it in battle. Select "Throw Ball" to throw a special Pal Ball with a 100-percent capture rate. Repeat with the remaining Pokemon.
