How to Install DS Games on Acekard Using WinRAR

If you download backups of your original Nintendo DS games from the Internet to use with your Acekard, you may find that most of them are in an archived format. Websites do this to save bandwidth, but before you will be able to play these games you will have to extract them to the card. The "ZIP" and "RAR" formats are commonly used to archive these files and are easily extracted using a shareware version of the "WinRAR" software.

Instructions

  Navigate to the WinRAR website and click the blue "Download" button to get the latest version of the software. If you enter your email address in the space provided on the download page, you will receive free support for 40 days, as well.

  Wait for the file to finish downloading and double-click it. Click the "Install" button and wait for the installation to finish.

  Navigate to a website such as Nintendo DS Homebrew Hive and download the games you want to install on your Acekard. Homebrew games like the ones on the hive are free but in order to download commercial Nintendo DS games in ROM format, you must be the legal owner of the original cart. Save the downloaded games to your Windows desktop for easy access.

  Gently remove the Micro SD card from your Acekard and insert it into your computer card reader. Click "Open folder to view files" from the autorun menu that appears.

  Look for the folder on the card where the DS games (in "NDS" format) are stored. The folder will be called ̶0;Games̶1; or something similar. If no folder is present, right-click anywhere in the Explorer window, select "New" and "Folder" from the pop-up menu and type in "Games."

  Right-click the game file you saved to your desktop and select "Open with," then "WinRAR" from the pop-up menu. Click on the DS game inside the archive you want to install to the Acekard so that it is highlighted in blue.

  Click "Extract To ̷0;" at the top of the WinRAR program screen and select the Micro SD card from the file browser menu on the right. Click the folder where the other games are stored and click "OK." WinRar will extract the game file to the Micro SD card.

  Remove the Micro SD card from your computer and gently insert it back into the Acekard. Insert the Acekard into Slot-1, situated at the top of your Nintendo DS. The game you installed to the card will now be ready to select and play as soon as you turn on your DS.
