What Is the Supercard?
The Supercard is a series of slot-1 flash game memory expansions for the Nintendo DS. All the cards support the moonshell command line interface as well as game backup "rom" images. Additionally, they allow real-time patching and cheat support, even across a soft reset. It also allows you to play back multiple media types, such as MP3, OGG and DS movie files from the card itself. The unofficial Supercard cheats database includes over 2600 Supercard (scc.dat) entries converted from the CodeJunkie's Action Replay line.
Supercard English Cheats Database
Because of the slow rate of release of the official Supercard cheat database, several English-speaking groups have taken the task upon themselves to create a more comprehensive database. While the Supercard utilities will convert an Action Replay .cht database file into compatible .scc files, many individual gamers are incapable of or unwilling to utilize the conversion utility. Groups such as Supercard Arkane and SCdev have created converted lists for easy use, but have fallen behind on maintaining updates. Currently, GBAtemp's Cheat Database is the most current, having been updated most recently in March of 2011.
Enabling/Disabling Supercard Cheats
Enabling or disabling Supercard Cheats is a snap. First, make sure that you have updated your DSONE operating system to v3.0 or later. Secondly, run the game in patch mode from the game selection menu and select the "Enable cheat" check box. At any time while the game is running, you can depress the L+R+START+UP keys at the same time to toggle between enabling or disabling cheats and bring up the cheat menu. If you wish to turn on cheats without the menu, depress the L+R+START+Left keys simultaneously. If you want to turn off cheats without the menu, depress the L+R+START+Right keys together.
Problems with Supercard Cheats
Odds are that if you use Supercard cheats, you will run into issues with some of them. This can be caused by a number of reasons. Firstly, not all games with the same name come from the same region. If the codes are made for a specific designation, such as EU or Multi, they may not work with your English backup file. If you have created your own cheat by converting it from an action replay code, make sure you have copied the information completely. Missing a single zero can cause the code to fail. Finally, update the firmware for your card regularly. Some code issues or crashes can be attributed to utilizing older firmware versions.
