How to Get Free Apps for the DSi XL

The Nintendo DSi XL allows you to do many things that are not possible on a regular Nintendo DS or DS Lite, such as use the Internet or create music, but to perform these tasks, you must download these applications from the Nintendo DSi Shop. The shop is included on all DSi XL systems, requiring only an Internet connection to get to it. Both the Flipnote Studio application, used to create music, and the Nintendo DSi Browser, used to browse the Internet, are free to download from the shop.

  Turn on your Nintendo DSi XL.

  Tap the "Nintendo DSi Shop" icon on the main menu of your DSi XL.

  Tap "Start Shopping."

  Tap "DSiWare," located at the top of the bottom screen on the Nintendo DSi XL.

  Tap "DSiWare Free."

  Tap the free item you wish to download.

  Tap "Free" on the bottom screen of your Nintendo DSi XL to download the application followed by "Yes." The application is automatically installed to your DSi XL after downloading.

  Launch the application by tapping its icon on your DSI XL's main menu.
