How Do You Make Latios or Latias Appear in Pokemon HeartGold?

"Pokemon: HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" are twin versions of the same game. The two follow the same story, feature the same characters and also many of the same Pokemon. The main difference is in which of the legendary Pokemon the player can find. Latios and Latias are themselves twin dragons, one colored blue and the other pink. After a key conversation with Steven Stone, the red Latias appears in "HeartGold," while the blue Latios shows up in "SoulSilver."

Instructions

  Travel to Saffron City, which in the heart of Kanto. It's located north of Route 6, south of Route 5, east of Route 7 and west of Route 8.

  Enter the house in the center of town, near the Silph Building. On the second floor, you'll find a Copycat. Speak with her to initiate the Latias arc.

  Go to Vermillion City, which is south of Saffron along Route 6.

  Visit the Pokemon Fan Club on the north side of town. Speak with the man inside and he'll give you the Lost Item. Once he's done this, try to exit the building. Steven Stone will appear and tell you that the Latias has appeared.

  Open your inventory and use your PokeGear Map. Latias appears on the map as a blinking dot. Travel to this location and then check the PokeGear again. If the dot has moved, chase after it until you catch up with Latias.

  Wander around the regions where Latias is until you encounter her in a random battle. Attack her until her health meter turns red and then start throwing pokeballs until you capture her.
