How to Get a DS Cartridge to Work on an Emulator

Emulators are free programs that allow gamers to play their favorite Nintendo DS games on the computer. While gamers can download free copies of roms, doing so is often illegal unless gamers already own a physical copy of the game. Many gamers prefer to download the data from their Nintendo DS cartridges directly into their computers to create legitimate roms.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the DS Driver from the Internet onto your computer. Extract the files onto your desktop by opening the zipped folder and dragging the contents onto your desktop. Run the executable file.

    • 2

Start the update driver by accessing it from the "Start Menu," followed by "Settings" and "Control Panel." Click "System," then "Device Manager."

    • 3

Manually browse to the location of the extracted executable file.

    • 4

Download the wireless multiboot application. Extract the files to your desktop and run the application. At this point, your Nintendo DS and computer will be able to interface wirelessly.

    • 5

Turn on the Nintendo DS, then access it from your computer by locating it on the wireless devices page of the computer. Use a DS interface program, such as Backup Tool, to extract the DS rom from the cartridge onto your computer.

    • 6

Run an emulator program on the computer. Click "Open," then run the rom downloaded from the DS cartridge.
