How Do You Catch a Wild Haunter in Pokemon SoulSilver?

Haunter, a purple ghost Pokemon with a wicked grin, terrifies its foes in "Pokemon SoulSilver." Haunter evolves from Gastly and, when traded to another trainer, it evolves into the fearsome Gengar. Haunter excels when it uses special and technical moves, such as Payback, Night Shade and Spite. If you want to capture your own wild Haunter, explore Route 8 in the Kanto region or find one in the Safari Zone in the Johto region.

Haunter on Route 8

  Walk east from Saffron City or west from Lavender Town to enter Route 8. Find the field of tall grass in the center of the road.

  Wait for night to arrive. Night comes when your Nintendo DS clock reads 8 p.m. Night lasts until 4 a.m.

  Walk around in the grass on Route 8. There is a 30 percent chance that Haunter will appear to fight you. When it does, toss a Poke Ball to catch Haunter.
Haunter in the Safari Zone

  Surf or fly to Cianwood City on the west side of the Johto region. Walk northwest to reach the Safari Zone.

  Pay the entrance fee at the front gate. You get 30 Safari Balls. You can only use Safari Balls while in the park.
- 6
  Walk to the Forest area. Search the grass patches until Haunter appears. Throw a Safari Ball to capture Haunter.
