Things You'll Need
Instructions
Gain formal video game development experience. As the Nintendo website explains, "Nintendo looks for companies that are established game developers, or individuals with game industry experience." While a bachelor's degree is not required, college courses can help you gain development experience and build contacts within the industry.
Establish a secure work location. Nintendo requires its authorized developers to work within a private office setting with security protections in place. A home office does not qualify as a secure work location.
Establish and secure your financial standing. Nintendo will expect you to demonstrate financial stability during the application process. Once accepted, you will be required to purchase a development kit costing between $2,000 and $10,000.
Complete the Nintendo Developer Application. It is available online at the Nintendo website.
Complete the Nintendo nondisclosure agreement -- or NDA. It outlines Nintendo's general rules regarding confidentiality and acts as a primer for future agreements over specific programs. The NDA is also available online.
