How to Get HM Fly in Pokemon Pearl

In the Nintendo DS game "Pokemon Pearl," HMs are hidden moves that can be taught to your Pokemon to give them special abilities that can be used outside of battle. In order to get the HM "Fly," you will first need to defeat Veilstone City's Gym Leader and then help your friend get her Pokedex back from Team Galactic.

Instructions

  Defeat Veilstone City's Gym Leader, Maylene. Maylene likes to use fighting-type Pokemon, which are weak agains flying and psychic-type Pokemon. It's a good idea to level up a Satravia or Golbat and put them in your party before fighting her.

  Exit the Veilstone Gym after beating Maylene. Dawn will be waiting for you outside, and she'll tell you that her Pokedex has fallen into the hands of Team Galactic. She asks for your help to get it back and says she'll wait for you in front of Team Galactic's warehouse.

  Head northeast of Veilstone Gym to get to Team Galactic's warehouse. Talk to Dawn and she'll ask you to team up with her to defeat the two Galactic grunts that took her Pokedex.

  Defeat the two Galactic grunts in a team Pokemon battle. Each of the grunts starts out using a Level 25 flying bug-type Pokemon so it's a good idea to use a fire-type Pokemon to fight them. After you defeat the grunts, they give Dawn back her Pokedex and retreat inside the warehouse.

  Go inside Team Galactic's warehouse and you should see an item lying on the ground as soon as you enter. Pick up the item to get "HM02 Fly." Use the HM to teach the move "Fly" to one of your flying-type Pokemon. "Fly" can be used outside of battle to transport you to any of the major cities you've already visited.
