How to Get a Fishing Pole in Pokemon SoulSilver Edition

One of the staples of the "Pokemon" video game franchise is the ability to fish. You fish with special items called Rods. There are several types of fishing rods in "Pokemon SoulSilver," and the first one that you can get, just after receiving your first badge, is called the Old Rod. Using a fishing rod gives you access to many Pokemon that you can't find on land ̵2; mostly Water-types, which can become very powerful later on in the game.

     Head south from Violet City, which is near the center of the world map.

     Enter Route 32 and walk south until you find a Pokemon Center.

     Go into the Pokemon Center and talk to everyone inside it. One of the people will offer you an Old Rod. Select "Yes" to add the Old Rod to your inventory.
