"Pokemon HeartGold," a role-playing game on the Nintendo DS, features the same limitation that all other games on the Nintendo DS do; you can only store a single game save on each cartridge due to limited memory. This means that if you want to start your game over, you must delete the data saved onto the cartridge before you can save your new game. The only way to do this is to perform a hard reset on your device.

     Turn on your Nintendo DS while "Pokemon HeartGold" is inside the top cartridge slot.

     Tap "Pokemon HeartGold" on your Nintendo DS dashboard. Wait a few minutes for it to load to the main menu.

     Press "Select," "Up" and "B" at the same time. Wait for a message to appear.

     Confirm your decision to delete your saved game.
