How to Get a Fishing Rod on Pokemon Diamond

In "Pokemon Diamond," there are a variety of ways to capture Pokemon. For Water-type Pokemon, using a fishing rod allows you to capture these Pokemon from any source of water. There are three types of rods available in "Pokemon Diamond" -- the Old Rod, the Good Rod and the Super Rod. The better the rod, the better the quality of Pokemon you can catch while fishing. Obtaining these fishing rods does not cost any money as they are given to you by fishermen. However, you must first find these fishermen.

Instructions

  Travel to Jubilife City, located north of Sandgem Town south of Floaroma City. Enter the building on the west side of town in front of the entrance to Route 218. Speak to the fisherman, who is wearing a red shirt and red and white hat, and select "Yes" to be given the Old Rod.

  Use the east exit in Hearthome City to enter Route 209. Directly to the east is a fisherman who is fishing on a dock. Speak to the fisherman and select "Yes" to his question to be given the Good Rod.

  Travel to Snowpoint City. Speak to the man next to the boat, located at the docks on the southern end of the city, to travel to the Fight Area. Travel north upon landing and speak to the fisherman next to the entrance to Route 225 to be given the Super Rod.

  Stand next to any body of water and select "Bag" from the main menu. Select any of your rods from the "Key Items" section of the bag to begin fishing.
