How Do You Catch a Raikou Hippopotamus in Pokemon SoulSilver?

Raikou is a hippopotamus-like Pokemon in the ̶0;Pokemon SoulSilver̶1; game for the Nintendo DS. Raikou is one of the hardest Pokemon to capture due to its tendency to run away when you find it. In order to catch him, you must properly prepare yourself for the hard task of outsmarting him. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to make capturing Raikou easier.

Instructions

  Finish the Burned Tower level, which is found in Ecruteak City in the Johto area of the Pokemon world. Once this level is complete you will be able to find Raikou in the wild.

  Load up your party with Pokemon that know the ̶0;Mean Look̶1; ability and the Shadow Tag ability. These two abilities stop other Pokemon from running away. Two Pokemon that have these abilities are Wobbuffet and Gengar.

  Walk around the grassy areas until you meet up with Raikou. If you have a Master Ball, you can throw it at Raikou right away to capture him. However, if you don̵7;t have that particular Poke Ball, you will have to Battle with him until you weaken him enough to capture him.

  Hit Raikou with either the ̶0;Mean Look̶1; or ̶0;Shadow Tag̶1; ability as soon as you meet him. When he spots you, he̵7;ll immediately try and run away so you have to work fast.

  Throw a Sleep or Paralyzing attack at Raikou when he is unable to escape. These attacks will diminish Raikou̵7;s health bar enough to allow you to capture him.

  Use Ultra Balls or Dusk Balls to capture Raikou. The Dusk Balls are only effective when used at night, but Ultra Balls can be used any time.
