What Is the Sacred Crest in the Isle of Ruins on 'Zelda: Phantom Hourglass'?

In the "Phantom Hourglass" video game for Nintendo DS, you're off on another adventure with Link, this time on the high seas, where you must enter Mutoh's Temple. You can't get inside the temple without the sacred crest, and you'll need to do more than a little exploring and battling to find it.
  1. The Sacred Crest

    • The world of Zelda has many crests throughout it, some sacred and others commonplace. The sacred crest in the Isle of Ruins is associated with King Mutoh, the former leader of the Cobble Kingdom. You learn of the crest after meeting with the spirits of the four knights, who were once guardians of King Mutoh. They help you navigate the island and gain entrance to Mutoh's Temple so you can slay the monster that has taken up residence there. The entrance to Mutoh's Temple will be forever closed to you unless you know the sacred crest.

    The Four Knights

    • To learn the crest, you must start out by obtaining the Regal Necklace from the knight Brant on the Isle of the Dead. The necklace allows you to reach the Isle of Ruins, where you'll criss-cross the island speaking with the other three knights and discovering the way into Mutoh's Temple. You'll speak with the third knight Bremeur and then the second knight Doylan before you gain a key to lower the water level around the island. This lets you reach Max, the first knight. He'll tell you that you must draw the sacred crest on the corridor door before it will open. He also helpfully points out that a clue is available on the pedestal beside that closed the door.

    Drawing the Crest

    • Drawing the crest isn't as simple as a few lines slashed onto the door; you have to draw it without lifting the stylus from the screen and you have to draw it beginning and ending at the correct locations. Place your stylus on the dot in the upper left corner of the door; then draw horizontally to the lower right dot, then straight down to the lower right dot, then to the center dot, then to the lower left dot; and finally back up to the upper left dot. The final crest should look something like the letter "W" with a line along the top of it. After you draw the crest, the door will open.

    Mutoh's Temple

    • This is the final temple in the game other than your return to the Temple of the Ocean King, and you'll gain both the Aquanine metal for the Phantom Sword and the ultra-powerful Hammer, which you can use to attack enemies like the Shell Spinners as well as pound down rusted switches. Ciela actually wields the hammer for you, so you can use her ability to fly to attack enemies almost anywhere on your screen. When you reach Eox, the boss of this temple, you'll have to use the hammer to defeat him. You'll need to launch yourself into the air using the catapults around the room, and then hit Eox's weak points with the hammer while you're in the air.
