How to Get AR Save to Work With Pokémon HeartGold

The Action Replay is a third party peripheral for the Nintendo DS, used to create backup copies of saved game files. It is primarily useful for games with limited save slots. ̶0;Pokemon: HeartGold̶1; only allows players to save one character to the DS cartridge. Using Action Replay saves is the only way to play multiple characters on the same game cartridge. Moving a save file from the Action Replay to ̶0;Pokemon: HeartGold̶1; overwrites the save file currently on the cartridge.
