How to Get Legendaries on Pokemon SoulSilver

Legendaries are very rare Pokemon in the Nintendo DS video game "Pokemon SoulSilver." There is only one of each Legendary Pokemon, and they are all very powerful high-level fighters. Many of the Legendary Pokemon are only unlocked after you have completed the game's main storyline and collected all the Pokemon Gym Badges from the Johto and Kanto regions. Lugia is the game mascot of "Pokemon SoulSilver" and one of the first Legendary Pokemon you will encounter in the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Theater in Ecruteak City after defeating all eight Pokemon Gyms in Johto and beat the five Kimono Girls there to get the Silver Feather. Head to the Whirl Islands in the west of Johto and proceed to the bottom. Here you will meet Lugia, a Level 45 Psychic/Water-type Legendary Pokemon. Use Ice, Rock, Ghost and Dark-type attacks to wear down its health and catch it in a Pokeball.

    • 2

Go to Pewter City and speak to the old man by the eastern exit leading to Route 3 and he will give you a Rainbow Wing. Go to the Bell Tower in Ecruteak City in Johto and the Level 70 Legendary Flying/Fire-type Pokemon Ho-Oh will appear at the top of the tower. Use Rock, Electric and Water-type attacks to wear down its health and catch it in a Pokeball.

    • 3

Go to Cianwood City in the south west of Johto and head to the north of town, where you will see Suicune. It will run away, but if you go to the middle entrance to Mt. Mortar on Route 43 it will appear again. Follow it to Vermillion City in Kanto, then Route 14. Finally go to Bill's House on Route 25 after beating the Gym Leader Misty and you can battle it. Suicune is a Level 40 Water-type Legendary Pokemon that is weak against Electric and Grass-type attacks.

    • 4

Complete all 16 Pokemon Gyms in the game to unlock the three Legendary Birds, the Ice-type Articuno, Electric-type Zapdos and Fire-type Moltres. Articuno can be found in the wild in the Seafoam Islands in the south of Kanto, Zapdos outside the entrance of the Power Plant on Route 10 and Moltres in the Silver Cave between Johto and Kanto. They are all at Level 50.

    • 5

Complete all eight Kanto Pokemon Gyms to unlock the Cerulean Cave in Cerulean City, in the northeast of Kanto. Deep inside the cave you will find a Level 70 Mewtwo, a Psychic-type Legendary Pokemon. Use Dark and Bug-type attacks to wear down its health and catch it in a Pokeball.

    • 6

Obtain the National Pokedex from Professor Oak in Pallet Town in Kanto, then go speak to Mr. Pokemon at his house on Route 30 to get a Red Orb. Head to the Embedded Tower, in the cave on Route 47, to find Groudon. Groudon is a Level 50 Ground-type Legendary Pokemon which you can beat using Water, Grass and Ice-type moves.

    • 7

Obtain a Kyogre by transferring it across from "Pokemon HeartGold," where it is caught in the same manner as Groudon is in "SoulSilver." Take these two to Professor Oak in Kanto to get the Jade Orb, then head back to the cave in the Embedded Tower to find Rayquaza. Rayquaza is a Level 50 Dragon/Flying-type Legendary Pokemon which is weak against Dragon, Rock and Ice-type moves.

    • 8

Go to the Burned Tower in Ecruteak City in Johto and head down to the basement to unlock the Roaming Legendary Pokemon, the Electric-type Raikou and the Fire-type Entei. They are both Level 40. They will flee the first time you encounter them, but thereafter will appear in the wild at random in the place of the Pokemon you normally encounter in long grass. You can track their movements on the Map card of the PokeGear on the bottom screen of the DS, but you will need to be quick to catch one before it moves on.

    • 9

Obtain the National Pokedex and head to the Pokemon Fan Club in Vermillion City in Kanto. When you exit the Fan Club, a non-player character will approach and tell you that Latios is roaming Kanto, and you can track it down in the same way as Raikou and Entei. Latios is a Level 35 Dragon/Psychic-type Legendary Pokemon that is weak against Ice, Bug, Ghost, Dark and Dragon-type attacks.
