How to Become a Ranger in Dragon Quest IX

Dragon Quest IX features dozens of character classes, though most of them are unavailable when the player first starts. In order to unlock them, he must complete a class quest. This is the case with the ranger class, which specializes in nature-based attacks and skills. In order to unlock it, the player must complete the quest called Ranger Changer. Once unlocked, he can turn any of his characters into rangers by visiting the Alltrades Abbey.

Instructions

  Go the Heights of Loneliness. They're located on the southeastern continent, just north of the Lonely Plains.

  Speak with the main by the entrance. He'll challenge you to kill three Hocus Chimaerae with poison.

  Wander around the Heights of Loneliness until you encounter a Hocus Chimaera. Use a poison-based attack such as Toxic Dagger, allowing the Hocus Chimaera to die slowly via the poison. Do not attack it with other types of assaults.

  Find two more Hocus Chimaerae and dispatch them with poison as well.

  Return to the entrance and speak with the man again. He'll congratulate you, unlocking the ranger class.

  Travel to the Alltrades Isle. It's located in the center of the game world on Newid Isle.

  Speak with the cleric on the first floor. He'll offer to change one of your character's class. Select a character and then choose the ranger class.
