How to Beat the 8th Gym in Pokemon SoulSilver

Clair, a dragon trainer, runs the Blackthorn City Gym in "Pokemon SoulSilver." The Blackthorn Gym is the last Gym you must complete before you earn the right to take on the Elite Four challenge. Clair's dragons know powerful moves, like Hyper Beam, that can do heavy damage to your team. Some dragons can even paralyze your Pokemon. Before you fight Clair, you need to solve the puzzle in the Blackthorn Gym. To do so, you must move a floating platform across a pool of lava.

Instructions

  Enter the Blackthorn Gym. Step on the floating panel. The three buttons on the panel turn it in different directions.

  Step on the left button to move left. Step on the blue button in the center of the panel to rotate the panel two times. Step on the right button to move right.

  Get on the next panel. Step on the left button to go up. Rotate the panel and move it right. Rotate the panel twice, and move it to the right once. Get off the panel, and get on the next one.

  Move left, and then rotate the panel. Move right. Rotate the panel again. Move the panel up three times. Rotate the panel one time and go right once. Rotate it one time, and go up two times.

  Put an electric-type Pokemon in the lead spot on your team. Talk to Clair to start the battle. She sends out Gyarados, a flying and water-type, first. Use any electric attack to kill it quickly.

  Switch to an ice Pokemon when Clair sends out a Dragonair. Use ice moves against it. If the Dragonair paralyzes you, use a Parlyz Heal to remove the condition. Keep using ice moves to take down Dragonair. Clair sends out a second Dragonair; defeat it in the same way.

  Use either ice or electric moves when Clair calls out her Kingdra. If Kingdra lowers your Pokemon's accuracy a few times, switch out that Pokemon for a new one. Keep healing and attacking with electricity or ice to defeat Clair's last Pokemon.
