How to Become a Martial Artist in Dragon Quest IX

"Dragon Quest IX" is a fantasy role-playing game that features more than a dozen player classes. Each class has its own set of abilities. To create a balanced party that can respond to all types of enemies, you need to draw members from a range of the classes. The Martial Artist class is primarily a melee fighter class, but it has a set of semi-magical skills called Focus. Unlike most classes in the game, the Martial Artist class does not to be unlocked. Players can recruit them from the very beginning of the game by going to an inn.

     Travel to a city or village. There are dozens in "Dragons Quest IX," and they all have inns.

     Speak with the innkeeper. A menu appears with options, including "Recruit."

     Select "Recruit." You can either recruit a pre-made character or create your own. Choose to create your own.

     Choose your character's appearance, drawing upon the body parts, hair styles and clothes available. Once you're done with the appearance, you get to choose his class.

   • 5

     Select the Martial Artist class. Once you're done, the new Martial Artist will join your party.
