Connect the two-pronged side of the power cable for the Nintendo DSi to an available AC outlet. Connect the other end of the power cable to the port next to the game card slot on top of the unit. If the light on the left hinge of the unit is orange, the battery is charging. Do not use the DSi for the first time until the light turns off, indicating the battery is fully charged.
Remove the power cable from the Nintendo DSi to run the console on battery power.
Swing the top half of the Nintendo DSi open until it clicks.
Push the button below the control pad on the left side of the Nintendo DSi to turn the console on. When the Nintendo DSi is turned on, a startup chime plays and the Nintendo logo is displayed on the top part of the screen. If you are turning the console on for the first time, follow the prompts on the bottom screen to configure the time and date, then enter your user name.
