How to Connect the DSI to an SSID That Has a Gray Lock

The Nintendo DSi is a handheld gaming device that allows you to play with other players over a Wi-Fi connection. Before you can do this, however, you configure your connection on the device. If your connection uses a WPA code, it will display a grey lock when you try to connect your device normally. This just means you need to enter your code through the Advanced Setup section of your DSi menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the "Settings" icon on your DSi dashboard, indicated by the wrench.

    • 2

Navigate to the third page and select "Internet," followed by "Connection Settings."

    • 3

Select "Advanced Settings," the last option listed on the screen.

    • 4

Select one of the "None" options beside the listed connections.

    • 5

Select "Search," and wait for the device to find your Wi-Fi signal.

    • 6

Locate the SSID on your router if you have not changed it. Depending on your router, this location will vary, but it will be printed on the router itself.

    • 7

Select the matching SSID on your DSi. A text field will appear where you must enter your WPA key.

    • 8

Type in your WPA code, followed by "OK." This saves your changes, connecting you to the Internet.
