How to Get Your Secret ID in HeartGold

Along with your Trainer ID number, you also have a Secret ID number, which is a five-digit number, in "Pokemon HeartGold." Your gender, name, Trainer ID and Secret ID are the four factors that distinguish you from other Pokemon Trainers. If you know your Secret ID number, you can use it to obtain a Shiny Pokemon or change the nature or IVs of a Pokemon. Learn what your Secret ID number is by using an Action Replay cheating device.

  Insert "Pokemon HeartGold" into your Action Replay cheating device. Start Action Replay and navigate to the list of codes for "Pokemon HeartGold." Create a new cheat and name it "Secret ID Finder Cheat."

  Confirm the name of the cheat and enter the following code with the on-screen keyboard:

  Activate the cheat code from the list of "Pokemon HeartGold" cheats. Start "Pokemon HeartGold" with the cheat enabled. Press the "Start" and "Select" button simultaneously on the main menu of "Pokemon HeartGold" to put the cheat into effect.

  Load your "Pokemon HeartGold" save file. Check your Trainer Card and look at the amount of money you have. The number you see is your Secret ID number. If you only see four digits, the missing number is zero, the first digit in your Secret ID number.
