How to Use the Pokemon RNG Reporter Time Finder

Nintendo DS "Pokemon" games use the system's clock to generate seed numbers that are used to calculate the pseudo-random numbers that govern events in the game. The seed numbers are advanced through a formula by in-game actions -- each time the number advances is referred to as "frame." If you enter a predetermined seed number by setting your system's clock to a specific time, and then advance that seed number a set number of frames, you can find perfect Pokemon. You use the RNG Reporter Time Finder to determine the times at which to start your game to capture the Pokemon you want.

Instructions

  1. Calibrating

    • 1

Put your "Pokemon" game into your Nintendo DS and turn the power on. Then press the "A" button until your game is loaded and go to a place where you can catch wild Pokemon that are Level 50 or higher. Save your game.

    • 2

Turn the power on your Nintendo DS off, then turn it back on to return to the loading screen.

    • 3

Enter the time adjustment mode on your DS by selecting this option on the DS' load screen.

    • 4

Set the seconds to "00" and then set the minute to the upcoming one on your external clock.

    • 5

Press the "A" button to set your DS clock to the upcoming minute just as your external clock hits this minute. For example, if the current time is 12:03:32, set your DS clock to 12:04:00, then press the "A" button just as your external clock hits 12:04:00.

    • 6

Start your game and then soft reset by holding down the "Start," "Select," and left and right shoulder buttons at the start of the next minute. Make a note of the exact time that you soft reset your game.

    • 7

Press the "A" button to rapidly move through the game's title screens until you come to the game loading screen. Press "A" again here as quickly as you can to get into your saved game. Write down the time that you pressed this button.

    • 8

Encounter a wild Pokemon as quickly as you can.

    • 9

Weaken and catch this Pokemon with any kind of Poke Ball.

    • 10

Double-click on the icon for your copy of the Pokemon RNG Reporter program (on your desktop or in your downloads folder) to open it. Then click on the "DPPt Seed Finder" button to open the seed finder screen.

    • 11

Fill in the text boxes labeled "Year," "Month," "Day," "Hour" and "Minute" with the date and time from your DS clock at the exact moment you continued your game.

    • 12

Fill in the text boxes labeled "Pokemon," "Nature," "Characteristic," "Level," "HP," "Atk," "Def," "SpA," "SpD" and "Spe" with your captured Pokemon's stats.

    • 13

Click on the "Find" button to calculate your seed numbers. Write down the seed number labeled "Initial," as well as the numbers in the "Seconds" and "Delay" columns next to the "Initial" seed number.

    • 14

Repeat this process four to five times and write down the number in the "Delay" column beside the "Initial" seed number each time to find your minimum and maximum delays.

    Generating a Time

    • 15

Click on the "DPPt Time Finder" button.

    • 16

Click on the "DPPt Capture" tab.

    • 17

Enter the data for all of the text boxes and options. These include: "maximum frame" (the highest frame number you want to search); "minimum delay" and "maximum delay" (the shortest and longest times taken to get from loading the game to starting to play); "method" (the method used by the program to generate times); "IV" (the base numbers for each stat); if you want a "shiny" Pokemon; and which "ability" you want your Pokemon to have.

    • 18

Click on the "Generate" button and write down the "Frame" number that appears. Then right click on this number and select the "Generate Times" option.

    • 19

Choose the time that you want to use from the list of times that appears. Write this time down.
