How to Make a Rhyperior in Pearl

The Pokemon Rhyperior cannot be caught in the wild in "Pokemon Pearl." In order to add Rhyperior to your team you must catch a wild Rhydon and evolve it. However, there are special circumstances required to evolve Rhydon to Rhyperior. The evolution requires the use of a special item called a Protector, which is not available until after the completion of the game's main storyline. You will also need a friend with whom you can conduct a Pokemon trade via Wi-Fi Internet connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Finish the game by defeating the Elite Four and completing the National Pokedex. In order to complete the National Pokedex you must encounter one of every native species of Pokemon. The majority of the National Pokedex will be complete by the time you defeat the Elite Four. Check your Pokedex for more information on Pokemon you have yet to encounter.

    • 2

Capture a Rhydon in Route 227, Route 228 or at Stark Mountain. Weaken the Rhydon using Water Type or Grass Type attacks, then select a PokeBall when it is almost knocked out to catch it.

    • 3

Travel to Route 228 and head north to find the Protector item on the ground.

    • 4

Open your Pokemon menu and equip the Protector as Rhydon's hold item.

    • 5

Fly to Jublife City and travel to the PokeCenter. Use the GTS machine in the PokeCenter to connect to your Wi-Fi Internet hot spot and conduct the trade with your friend. Give your Rhydon to your friend, then have your friend trade the Rhydon back to evolve it to Rhyperior.
