When playing Pokémon Platinum, you receive a Pokedex that contains information about all the Pokémon that you've captured while you play. Your ultimate goal as a Pokémon trainer in the game is to find all the Pokémon and complete the Pokedex. Unfortunately, this task can't easily be completed. One Pokémon, Manaphy, does not actually appear in the game -- although you'll still need its Pokedex entry. To get Manaphy you'll need to travel to a mansion on route 212 and find a book that contains information on the hard-to-find Pokémon. After reading the book, your Pokedex will update with an entry for Manaphy.

Travel to Route 212, which is in the Southeast corner of Sinnoh.

Locate the mansion of Mr Backlot. Enter the mansion through the front door and explore to find the room Mr Backlot is studying in.

Read the book that you'll find on his desk. This book is about the rare Pokémon Manaphy. When you have finished reading the book, you'll get a notification that Manaphy was added to your Pokedex.
