How to Get Volt Tackle in Pokemon Black

Volt Tackle is a devastating attack that can only be performed by Pichu and its evolutions, Pikachu and Raichu. It is difficult to acquire but well worth the effort as the attack is one of the best moves available in "Pokemon Black." It is not possible for a Pokemon to learn Volt Tackle and there is no TM available. The only way to acquire it is by breeding a male and female Pikachu or Raichu.

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain a male and female Pikachu or Raichu. Neither can be caught in the wild in "Pokemon Black," so you will either have to transfer one from the "Diamond," "Pearl," "Platinum," "HeartGold" or "SoulSilver" versions or obtain one from the GTS, the Global Trade Station, in which you can receive Pokemon over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

    • 2

Fly to Striaton City and take the western exit into Route 3. Head northward to the row of buildings. Go through the door on the far right, into the Pokemon Day Care. Give the female Pokemon a Light Ball to hold and then speak to the woman behind the counter. Leave your male and female Pikachu or Raichu in the Day Care.

    • 3

Wait for the Pokemon to produce an egg. In most cases an egg will appear after a Pokemon has leveled up in the Day Care. For every step you take at this point, the Pokemon will receive an experience point so keep moving as much as possible. Use the Bicycle while outside and hold the B button when indoors to sprint. Travel as much as you can to allow your Pokemon to level up quickly.

    • 4

Return to the Day Care. If you're lucky, the owner will present you with a Pokemon egg. Clear some space in your party to make room for the egg and accept it from the owner. You will need to pay to get your male and female Pokemon back, or you can leave them there to produce another egg.

    • 5

Hatch the egg. Just like before, this will be entirely dependent on the amount you walk and cycle around the Unova region. There is not a specific amount of steps to take as all eggs are different, but it will speed things up if you keep the egg at the top of your party.

    • 6

Check on the status of the egg by accessing the menu. Select "Pokemon" and highlight the egg in your party. Choose "Summary" and you will be notified of the egg's progress, such as whether it is close to hatching or not. Eventually, the egg will hatch and you will own a level one Pichu with the Volt Tackle move.
