How to Get Frontier Symbols in Emerald

The Battle Frontier in "Pokemon Emerald" is not a part of the main quest of the game. It is a hidden quest that you can unlock only through very specific circumstances. You must complete the entire main quest up to the last battle with the Elite Four, and then you must beat the Elite Four using Pokemon with the same ID number as your character. Once you've unlocked the Battle Frontier, you must defeat the Brain of each Battle Location, much like you would defeat a Gym Leader in the main quest.

  Travel to the Battle Location from which you wish to obtain the Frontier Symbol.

  Battle through the location several times until the Brain appears. Each location requires a different amount of completions; the Battle Pike, for instance, requires that you battle through the entire location twice, whereas the Battle Arena requires that you battle through it four times. You must defeat seven trainers on each play-through to beat the Battle Location.

  Defeat the Brain in a Pokemon Battle to acquire a Frontier Symbol.
