How to Evolve Rhydon on HeartGold

Many Pokemon in "Pokemon: HeartGold Version" evolve when you battle with them until they earn enough experience points. However, some Pokemon, like Rhydon, only evolve under certain conditions. Rhydon, a rock and ground-type Pokemon with a horn on its nose, can evolve into Rhyperior, a heavily armored stone behemoth. To evolve a Rhydon into a Rhyperior, you need to give it a hold item called a "Protector." When you give the Rhydon a Protector and trade it to a friend, it turns into the mighty Rhyperior.

Instructions

  Get a Protector hold item, if you do not have one yet. A Protector is hidden in Mt. Mortar in the Johto region. To get to Mt. Mortar, head east from Ecruteak City or west from Mahogany Town.

  Open the Pokemon team list. Select Rhydon from the list. Select "Give Item" and then give Rhydon the Protector.

  Talk to the clerk on the second floor of a Pokemon Center to initiate a trade with a friend. Your friend must also be playing "Pokemon: HeartGold Version." His Nintendo DS must be within a few feet of yours for the trade to work.

  Select Rhydon as the desired Pokemon for the trade. As soon as the trade completes, Rhydon turns into Rhyperior.
