How to Get TV on Your DSi

The Nintendo DSi is the upgrade to the Nintendo DS and DS Lite consoles. The DSi system includes extra features such as two built-in digital cameras, access to the exclusive Nintendo DSi Shop, and the ability to play back audio files. With the right equipment, you can even store recorded video files on the DSi, which you can take with you and play wherever you go, making the DSi the ultimate portable multimedia player.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the TV show you want on your Nintendo DSi. Either find the file location on your computer, or download the video clip that you want from the Internet.

    • 2

Convert the video file to DPG if it is formatted otherwise. There are many freeware programs available that allow this conversion, for example, BatchDPG and DPG Converter (see Resources).

    • 3

Insert the Micro SD card into your computer. Create a folder named "R4" on the SD card, open the folder, and create another for "Multimedia." Drag and drop the DPG video file into the "Multimedia" folder.

    • 4

Eject the Micro SD card from the computer and slide it into the R4 cartridge. Place the SD card so that the chip faces downward into the top right corner of the cartridge.

    • 5

Put the R4 cartridge into Slot-1 of the Nintendo DSi, and switch the power on. The R4 will bypass the regular loadup screen and take you to the R4 main menu.

    • 6

Choose "Multimedia" on the main menu. The audio and video player MoonShell will be activated. The bottom screen will show the time and date, while the top screen will allow you to scroll through your saved files.

    • 7

Use the D-pad to highlight your selected TV show file, and press "A." Sit back and watch your video on the Nintendo DSi screen.
