How to Get Ho-Oh Lugia Requirements in Pokemon HeartGold & Pokemon SoulSilver

Ho-Oh and Lugia, the legendary monsters that appear on the covers of "Pokemon HeartGold" and "Pokemon SoulSilver," appear after specific requirements have been met. Ho-Oh lords over the Bell Tower, while Lugia lurks in the treacherous Whirl Islands. The techniques used to lure these massive birds out of hiding are similar between the two versions of "Pokemon." Although you can capture both Lugia and Ho-Oh in either version, you will meet one of the two legends long before the other becomes available.

Instructions

  Defeat Team Rocket in Goldenrod City, the Kimono Girls in Ecruteak City's Dance Hall and all eight Gym Leaders in "Pokemon HeartGold" or "Pokemon SoulSilver."

  Go to the special location where the legendary bird is hiding after defeating all of the necessary Pokemon trainers. If you are playing "Pokemon SoulSilver," go to the bottom level of the Whirl Islands to battle Lugia. Climb to the summit of the Bell Tower to meet Ho-Oh in "Pokemon HeartGold."

  Go to Pewter City to meet the other legendary Pokemon. Talk to the man standing by the entrance of Route 3 to receive a Rainbow Wing if you have met Lugia or the Silver Wing if you encountered Ho-Oh.

  Bring the Rainbow Wing to the Bell Tower or the Silver Wing to the lowest level of the Whirl Islands to meet the other bird.
