How to Get to Blackthorn City in Pokemon HeartGold

"Pokemon HeartGold" is a remake of the original "Gold" version of the game. In the game, you choose your Pokemon partner who will be with you on your quest to catch as many Pokemon as you can and defeat gym leaders in order to become a Pokemon Master. The last gym leader you will face resides in Blackthorn City; before you can reach the city, you must complete a series of sub-quests involving the nefarious Team Rocket.

Instructions

- 1
  Go to the Lake of Rage. Use the HM move "Surf" to go out to the middle of the lake and you will spot the Red Gyrados. Defeat or capture the Red Gyrados; either way, you will receive the Red Scale.

  Talk to Lance, who will appear at the Lake of Rage after you have defeated or captured the Red Gyrados. He will tell you about the trouble Team Rocket has been causing and ask for your help.

  Go to Mahogany Town and enter the town's store. Watch the cut-scene, which will show you that Team Rocket has a secret hideout under the store.

  Navigate to Team Rocket's secret hideout, defeating any Rocket Grunts and Scientists who oppose you. Once you beat the Team Rocket Boss in their hideout, all the Team Rocket members will clear out.

  Defeat Mahogany Town's gym leader, Pryce. His Pokemon are Ice types, which are weak against Fire types; use moves like Flame Wheel and Flamethrower to take him down and earn your Glacier Badge.

  Head over to Goldenrod City and defeat Team Rocket in the Radio Tower and in the Goldenrod Underground. Team Rocket will clear out of the city once and for all.

  Go back to Mahogany Town and head east to the Ice Path; the man who was blocking your way will now let you pass. Navigate the Ice Path, battling any trainers for experience. You will exit the Ice Path and enter Blackthorn City.
