How to Get Lucario in Platinum

Lucario is classified as the Aura Pokemon and appears in multiple titles throughout the "Pokemon" franchise, including "Pokemon Platinum" for the Nintendo DS. Lucario mixes Fighting Type special moves and Steel Type special moves, making it a strong Pokemon to have on your side in a Pokemon battle. In "Pokemon Platinum," Lucario is a rare Pokemon that can only be added to your team by first obtaining its pre-evolved form, Riolu. There is only one Riolu available in the entire game.

Instructions

  Travel to Iron Island by taking the ferry from Canalave City. Before setting out, put your five strongest Pokemon into your party and leave the sixth spot open for when you obtain Riolu.

  Walk into the cave on Iron Island. While inside the cave you will be prone to wild Pokemon battles, so prepare for a fight. Many of the Pokemon inside the cave are rock type Pokemon, which are weak against grass type and water type Pokemon.

  Take the right staircase upon entering the cave. Walk down the path until you reach the elevator. Take the elevator to the next floor and then take the left staircase. Continue on the path until you reach a young Pokemon trainer named Riley.

  Talk to Riley and he will ask you to help him get out of the cave. Accompany Riley back to the exit. Along the way you will continue to have wild Pokemon battles and Pokemon trainer battles. When you reach the exit you must defeat two Galactic Grunts in a Pokemon battle to be allowed to pass. Select your strongest attacks and highest leveled Pokemon to make quick work of these battles. Riley will give you a Riolu Egg when you defeat the Galactic Grunts.

  Hatch the Riolu Egg by placing it first in your Pokemon party and walking around the world map. A Riolu Egg requires 6,400 steps to hatch.

  Increase your Riolu's happiness value to 220 during the day to evolve it to Lucario. Give your Riolu berries that it likes and pamper it with a massage to increase its happiness. Riolu also increases in happiness when it obtains a new level.
