How to Get Groudon in Platinum

"Pokemon Platinum Version" for the Nintendo DS features more than 100 Pokemon to catch. Unfortunately, Groudon isn't one of them. You can still catch Groudon using the Action Replay cheating device, but without it, there's no way to catch him. Groudon is a Legendary Pokemon found in "Pokemon Ruby Version" and "Pokemon Sapphire Version" for the Game Boy Advance and "Pokemon SoulSilver Version" for the Nintendo DS.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert "Pokemon Platinum" into your Action Replay, and insert the Action Replay into your Nintendo DS. Turn on the console, and verify on the top screen that the Action Replay recognizes "Pokemon Platinum Version." It will, if you've got the latest Action Replay firmware installed.

    • 2

Press the "Code Select" button, symbolized by the asterisk on the screen's bottom-left corner. Select "Add New Code" from the top of the list.

    • 3

Name the code. For example, use "Groudon Code." Press "Next" to pull up the code entry window.

    • 4

Enter "94000130 fffb0000 d500000 0000017f b2101d40 00000 c00000 00000b d700000 000233ec dc00000 000006 d200000 00000" and click "Next." Don't worry about formatting the code. As long as you enter the characters correctly, the Action Replay automatically formats it.

    • 5

Activate the code by clicking the check box next to it. Press your Nintendo DS' "Start" button to launch "Pokemon Platinum Version."

    • 6

Open your game as usual, and head to any tall grass area where you'd normally encounter wild Pokemon. Hold "Select" on your Nintendo DS, and begin walking through the grass. The first Pokemon you encounter is Groudon. Battle him until he's about to faint, then catch him using a Poke Ball.
