How to Get Steps on a PokeWalker Without Walking

The Nintendo Pokewalker is a device that comes bundled with copies of "Pokemon HeartGold" and "Pokemon SoulSilver." It is a portable pedometer with limited gaming functions. Players can use the Pokewalker to take their favorite Pokemon for a walk while creating a currency called "Watts" that can be used to purchase new items and routes where the player can play minigames. Players who are unable to take their Pokewalker for a proper stroll because of injury, sickness or laziness can gain Watts by cheating the device's internal accelerometer in a number of ways.

Instructions

    • 1

Give the Pokewalker to a friend to wear for you. Friends attending school, college or who work a job with lots of walking will rack up Watts throughout the day. Let your friend know the Pokewalker is a fully functional pedometer to help convince them to help you.

    • 2

Hold the Pokewalker in one hand and shake it. The Pokewalker's accelerometer can't distinguish between the shaking of a hip in motion and a hand. This can be tiring after a while but is an effective way to gain Watts while stationary.

    • 3

Wear the Pokewalker on a bumpy public transit ride. Train rides, bus rides and even car rides on a bumpy road produce enough shaking to trigger the accelerometer to gain Watts.

    • 4

Use tape to affix the Pokewalker to the front of a rotary fan and set it on high.

    • 5

Sit the Pokewalker atop the washing machine or dryer while doing a load of laundry. Do not place the Pokewalker inside either device, only atop.

    • 6

Tie a piece of string to the string loop at the base of the Pokewalker and dangle it in front of a cat. The cat will bat at the Pokewalker like a cat toy, shaking it and gaining Watts.
