How to Get the Deep Sea Scale in Pokemon SoulSilver

There are a variety of items to find in "Pokemon SoulSilver." Some items, such as potions, are used to heal your Pokemon in battle and are one-time use items. Other items, such as the DeepSeaScale, are items Pokemon can hold to receive additional benefits. The DeepSeaScale can only be held by one Pokemon, Clamperl. When held by this Pokemon, his Special Defense statistic is raised, allowing him to take less damage from special attack moves. To find the DeepSeaScale, you must have the Dowsing Machine that is received in Ecruteak City.

  Travel to Route 20 via the southern exit at Fuschia City.

  Select "Bag" from the bottom screen of the Nintendo DS. Select "Key Items" followed by "Dowsing Machine" to activate the machine. Two rods appear on the bottom screen.

  Follow the direction of the Dowsing Machine rods. The rods point in the direction of a hidden item with an arrow between the two rods indicating the direction to travel. When you are on top of an item, the arrow inbetween the two rods changes to an X.

  Press "A" to search the ground when the "X" appears on the Dowsing Machine to find the DeepSeaScale.
