How to Get the Thief in Pearl

In "Pokemon Pearl," you can use Technical Machine (TM) 46 to teach Thief to a Pokemon. Thief is a Dark-type move that inflicts damage on a Pokemon at a base power of 40 while stealing its hold item at the same time. If a Pokemon has the Sticky Hold or Multitype ability, you cannot steal an item from it with Thief. This move cannot steal mail or the Griseous Orb from a Pokemon. You can find TM46 in Eterna City, Sinnoh in "Pearl."

Instructions

  Defeat Roark of Oreburgh City and Gardenia of Eterna City in "Pokemon Pearl." You need to defeat the first two gym leaders to use Hidden Machine (HM) 01. You need HM01, Cut, to gain access to the area where TM46 is located.

  Teach HM01 to Bidoof, Pachirisu, Buneary or any other Pokemon that can learn it. Put the Pokemon that knows Cut in your party of Pokemon. Once you teach a Pokemon a Hidden Machine, you will need to visit the Move Deleter to make the Pokemon forget the move.

  Head to the blue building north of the Pokemon Center in Eterna City. Stand in front of the trio of trees and use Cut. Instead of entering the building, head east. Cut down the tree and follow the path. Pick up the Item Ball at the end of the path. It will contain TM46.
