How to Get Thunder Wave in Platinum

Thunder Wave is a move that doesn't inflict damage, but it does paralyze any opponent without a major status ailment. Since Thunder Wave is an Electric-type move, it does not affect Ground-type Pokemon. It also won't paralyze any Pokemon with the Volt Absorb or Motor Drive ability. You can teach this move to certain Pokemon with the help of Technical Machine (TM) 73 in "Pokemon Platinum." The Battle Tower shops in Sinnoh sell TM73 for 32 Battle Points (BP).

Instructions

  Obtain the eight Sinnoh Gym Badges for your Trainer Card in "Pokemon Platinum." Win against Cynthia and the Elite Four members to become the Pokemon League Champion of Sinnoh. Go to Snowpoint City and take the ferry to the Battle Zone.

  Let your rival lead you to the Battle Frontier entrance. Fight and defeat Flint and Volkner with your rival. After the double battle, you will have a conversation with Buck, Tower Tycoon Palmer and your rival's father. Enter the Battle Frontier through the entrance.

  Go to the Battle Tower, which is the northernmost facility of the Battle Frontier. Choose "Single Battles" and select three Pokemon. Beat 20 Pokemon Trainers and the Tower Tycoon Palmer to earn 26 BP.

  Quit the Battle Tower and choose to participate again. Complete the three streaks again. Defeat him again to earn another 26 BP. At that point, you will have more than enough BP to purchase TM73. Leave the Battle Tower.

  Go to the Move Stall in the Battle Frontier. Speak to the woman behind the counter. Purchase TM73, which is Thunder Wave, for 32 BP. You will have 16 BP left over.
