How to Get a Thunderstone in Pokemon HeartGold Without a Pokeathlon

In "Pokemon HeartGold," you can use a ThunderStone to evolve a Pikachu into a Raichu, an Eevee into a Jolteon or an Eelektrik into an Eelektross. You can get an infinite number of Thunderstones at the Pokeathlon, but if you want to avoid playing the mini-games, you can either win a Thunderstone at the bug-catching contest or obtain one from Bill's Grandfather in Kanto.

Instructions

      Travel to the National Park in Johto. Enter the bug-catching contest. To obtain the Thunderstone, you must place in first at the bug-catching contest by catching the largest Bug-type Pokemon.

      Travel to Ilex Forest and catch a Pichu. If you already have a Pichu, place it into your party.

      Use a Pokemon that knows "Fly" to travel to Kanto. Talk to Bill's Grandfather and show him the Pichu. He will hand over a Thunderstone so that you can evolve a Pikachu into Raichu.
